The incident involving two Ford Rangers happened in New Barn Road shortly after 9.30pm on June 2.
Peter was rushed to hospital along with his one-year-old baby sister, Annarica and their dad, Lovell.
The 24-year-old remains in critical condition, while his daughter suffered minor injuries.
Peter died at the hospital.
Tributes have since been paid to Peter online with many describing him as a “beautiful angel”.
One said: “You were golden, Peter. The family chain is broken and will never be the same without you my boy. Forever 4.”
Another said: “Rest in peace baby. A little angel way too good for this sick, cruel world. Straight to the gates of heaven.”
“So heartbreaking. A beautiful baby boy, rest in heavenly peace, angel.
“He was the kindest little boy and loving child”, a third added.
Patrick Maughan, 53, and Owen Maughan, 27 – both from Hill Rise in Darenth, Kent – appeared via videolink at Maidstone Crown Court over the death of Peter.
They were charged with his murder, as well as causing grievous bodily harm to Peter’s dad.
Both men are also charged with the attempted wounding with intent of Peter’s sister and the mum of the children, Hayley Maughan.
Owen Maughan has accepted that he was driving the vehicle at the time of the crash, while Patrick Maughan has accepted he was a passenger.
It is understood that Hayley is the first cousin of Owen Maughan.
The pair appeared via separate videolinks from HMP Elmley, Owen Maughan wearing a light blue shirt, and his father in a grey prison jumper.
A provisional trial date has been set for February 2 at Maidstone Crown Court, and is expected to last four weeks.
The two suspects are to remain in custody and will next appear at Maidstone Crown Court for a plea and trial preparation hearing on July 7.
