Nestlé confirms future of Drifter chocolate bar
The Drifter chocolate bar is another product discontinued by Nestlé, not once but twice.
Nestlé’s Drifter bar was first launched in the UK back in the 1980s before being discontinued in 2007.
The confectionery company reversed its decision a year later, with Drifter bars returning to UK stores in May 2008.
Ten years later, in 2018, the popular chocolate bar was discontinued again due to “changing consumer preferences”.
Seven years on, shoppers are still calling for the return of the Drifter chocolate bar.
One person, posting on X (formerly Twitter), said: “@Nestle Please could you consider bringing back these great chocolate bar please.”

Another added: “Hey @Nestle @NestleCare, I don’t tend to eat many chocolate bars these days as I am getting older, but I did, and still do, have a hankering for a Drifter and was disappointed not to find one on the ‘high street’ or in shops.
“Yes, you discontinued it. It was a favourite.”
They continued: “The sad thing is, that there’s no other chocolate bar similar to it and there is a want, but maybe not to your marketing desire.”
There is even an online petition calling for Nestlé to bring back the Drifter chocolate bar, which has received more than 2,400 signatures (at the time of writing).
With the popularity surrounding the Drifter chocolate bar still evident, we asked Nestlé earlier this year if there were any plans to bring it back to stores across the UK.
A Nestlé spokesperson said: “Drifter bars were last available in 2018 when it was delisted due to changing consumer preferences. Of course, confectionery tastes and trends change all the time.
“Nestlé confectionery has announced an exciting line of new products for 2025, including Rowntree’s Jelly Tots Tangy flavour and KitKat Hazelnut four finger bars.”
It appears these plans have not changed with Nestlé, replying to a post on X recently saying: “We have no plans to bring it back, unfortunately, but we’ll let the rest of the team you miss it!”
