The Movie Shack in Broadway Shopping Centre on Thursday, February 27, will be hosting Pokémon-themed activities, raids, giveaways, and some chances to win fantastic prizes.
Whether you’re into the trading card game, PokemonGO, TCG, the anime, the games – or just think Pikachu is adorable, there’s something for everyone.
The event will run from 6pm to 9pm at the venue.
National Pokémon Day happens every February 27, marking the day Pokémon was first introduced in 1996.
The Movie Shack, known for its film memorabilia, Funko Pops, and merchandise, also runs a board game café with after-school activities.
The shop is a welcoming space for kids and adults to meet people and play tabletop games, many of which are free unless involved in a bigger tournament.
Store owner Lorraine previously told the News Shopper that she started the business after losing her job due to health issues.
She and her husband, both big fans of comic cons and geek culture, turned their passion into a shop that’s now a community hub for collectors and gamers.
“We set up the board game area and now have more than 100 games for people to play.
“Since opening the café, we’ve gone from strength to strength.”
The store provides a safe spot for kids who might not want to hang out at Bexleyheath’s Clock Tower but still want somewhere fun and affordable to go.
Lorraine added: “We started free after-school clubs because there aren’t many places for kids to go that don’t cost a fortune. We wanted to offer a safe, affordable space.”
Visitors can also trade cards and get tips on building decks for games like Magic: The Gathering and Disney Lorcana—all for free.
The Movie Shack is open seven days a week and everyone is welcome to join the fun and meet fellow fans.
