The community gardens at the Hugh Myddelton care home in Old Farm Avenue, Southgate, is tended by volunteer Pat Shackleton and residents’ ambassador Rosa Bertolino.
Now it has received the ‘Best Communal Gardens’ award in this year’s ‘Enfield in Bloom’ competition.
“Our garden is a source of comfort and activity — not just a beautiful space,” care home manager Jade Shea said. “This award is for our community who have worked so hard to make it flourish.”
Pat and Rosa’s enthusiasm has been “key to the garden’s success”, the manager adds.
Mayor of Enfield Margaret Greer presented the home with the top title at the Chickenshed Theatre’s awards night.
The annual Enfield in Bloom competition encourages schools, households and care centres like Myddleton House to transform their outdoor spaces into green havens.
