But dad jokes aside, can you believe that some stores are already promoting bits for Easter? Yep, M&S has, and it’s caused a fury online.
Some believe it is ‘commercialism overtaking Christian values’, whilst others plainly call it ‘madness’, but everyone largely agrees, it seemed way too early.
If you ever needed to see how commercialism has overtaken our Christian values. Today in M&S, remnants of this Christmas chocolates, adjoining Easter chocolates, eggs etc (can someone tell me, where in the story of Easter, do chocolate kittens appear?) then Valentine’s Day…. 🤬 pic.twitter.com/KFzOL5kRsm

And the debate didn’t just hit X, it also made it’s way over to Instagram too.
One user said: “M&S…love you, love Easter but it is literally still the 12 days of Christmas, please please please can we just live in the moment, rather than 3 months down the line?!”
Another said: “Calm down. Consumerism madness this. We’ll continue to support you but can we just take a breather and enjoy the seasons as they come and not 3 months in advance”
Someone else commented: “I love you. Please let’s us all take a moment to live in the moment. I know as a business you need to utilise the time and plan. I just think you would stand out more if you focused on now too…. 12 days of Christmas. Slow January. Illustrate cosy homes, hints on making your space pretty post Christmas decorations coming down on the 6th, simple pleasure enjoying our homes etc recipes for leftovers. Don’t be like everyone else! You’re M&S.”
