Catherine West, Labour MP for Hornsey and Friern Barnet, visited Fight for Sight’s new shop on January 17.
The shop, at 58 Muswell Hill Broadway, was previously the Vision Foundation shop before merging with Fight for Sight.
The charity funds scientific research and social change for those with vision loss.
Ms West, a champion of sustainable and ethical fashion, assisted volunteers by sorting through donations and serving at the accessible till.
She said: “The Fight for Sight shop is an amazing addition to an already buzzing high street.
“It’s fantastic to know that 79p from every item sold supports scientific research and projects that are changing the lives of people who are vision impaired.”
The MP also drew the winner of Fight for Sight’s recent competition, awarding a £100 shopping spree to Andrew Chang, a customer who donated a bag of clothes in December.
Fight for Sight retail director Phil Beaven said: “By changing your wardrobe, you’ll genuinely be changing lives.
“We would love residents to bring us their preloved clothing, bric-a-brac, and homeware.”
The shop is open Monday to Saturday from 10am to 5pm, and Sunday from 11am to 5pm.
