Sharing personal stories along with the country’s history, the book is a rare glimpse into how Israel has built a cutting-edge military and intelligence power.
The book also discusses what it takes to be successful in the Mossad – Israel’s national intelligence agency, which deals with espionage, covert operations, and counter terrorism around the world.
And it sheds light on how the art of spycraft has changed with AI and social media, as well as taking a view on what Donald Trump’s second presidency means for Israel.
Born in Jerusalem, Cohen served in the IDF in 1979, volunteered as a paratrooper, then served as a squad leader before studying at university in London.
The 63-year-old father-of-four joined the Mossad in 1982 and was appointed by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu as his National Security Advisor in 2013.
While running The Mossad, Cohen was credited with operations to deter Iran’s nuclear programme, and was the chief negotiator during the Abraham Accords, which normalised relations between Israel and several Arab nations.
He has even been spoken of as a potential successor to Benjamin Netanyahu.
