Yasir Mohammed, of Woodcote Avenue in Mill Hill, is said to have been part of a trio who punched the victim to the head to steal like bike on May 12 last year.
Mohammed was with Josiah Charles, a 19-year-old from Peterborough, and a 16-year-old boy who cannot be legally named.
At a track in Orton Malborne, they demanded that the victim handed over his bike, which was worth about £2,000.
A second man who was with the victim managed to get away and film the incident on his mobile phone, before calling the police.
When he returned, he was threatened before the three attackers managed to escape without the bike.
The victim suffered severe bruising but did not require hospital treatment.
Two of the three suspects were arrested the following day, but Londoner Mohammed was arrested two weeks later in Peterborough city centre.
All three denied attempted robbery but were found guilty following a trial at Peterborough Crown Court in December.

On Monday (January 12), Mohammed was jailed for two years and six months and a seven-year criminal behaviour order banning him from Peterborough.
Charles, of Medworth in Orton Goldhay, was jailed for three years.
Both sentences included six-month suspended sentences.
Sentencing of the 16-year-old boy, who is from Peterborough and was also found guilty of attempting to rob the second man, was adjourned until May 8.
DC George Corney said: “This was a frightening ordeal for the victim. The behaviour of the defendants, and the violence they inflicted, was shocking.
“I’d like to commend the second man for his quick thinking in capturing crucial video evidence using his phone and immediately seeking help.
“This evidence allowed officers to identify the suspects quickly and was instrumental during the court process.”
