A casualty on the tracks was reported on the Central line at around 9.50am today (October 28).
Officers and London Ambulance Service crews attended, however, the person was pronouncded dead.
All lines are closed as the incident is being dealt with, causing severe delays on the Central line.
The incident is not being treated as suspicious and a file will be prepared for the coroner.
A spokesperson for British Transport Police said: “Officers were called at around 9.50am today (28 October) to reports of a casualty on the tracks at Mile End Underground station.
“Officers responded with paramedics, however sadly a person was pronounced dead at the scene.
“The incident is not being treated as suspicious and a file will be prepared for the coroner.”
