Whilst the capital is not covered by any weather warnings ahead of the storm on Thursday and Friday, it is still facing heavy rain and strong winds over the next 48 hours.
The rain will start from around 1pm today (January 8), turning heavy at times and bringing with it strengthening winds from the southwest.
By tonight, the wind will pick up, with “gales likely” and the “heaviest bursts of rain before midnight”, according to the Met Office.
Overnight and into Friday morning is when there will be an increasing chance of sleet and snow, especially over higher ground.
Sleet is forecast from around 4am to 6am on in Greater London, likely turning back into rain for the remainder of the morning.
Throughout the day today and into Friday, the temperatures will range from 2 to 7 degrees, with feels like temperatures as low as -3 degrees overnight.
