On November 8, The Mercury Shopping Centre will come alive again an hour after closing to shoppers – this time by children with Nerf toys.
Events company Foam on Tour is set to return to the venue once again with its event that is “like no other”, according to director Ben Masih.
The business, set up in December 2024, transforms shopping centres across the UK into playful battlegrounds where kids aged six and over can let off some steam.

Blow-up barricades and props are dotted about the venues for participants to hide behind.
The Nerf toys are referred to as ‘blasters’ and violent language is avoided, with eye protection mandatory at all times.
The company provides ‘ammo’ and hold safety briefings prior to the start of the battles, also catering the same experience for participants with additional needs.
Foam on Tour has also recently acquired an inflatable target range, where people can test their aim by attempting to make contact with floating targets with the blasters.
It is understood the business is hoping to host an event in Romford every other month.

A spokesperson for Foam on Tour said: “We’re trying to ramp it up because it is really quite good for the community.
“Everyone comes out and have a really good time. We’ve got people that are recurring now so we recognise them and they just seem to love it.”
The new year could also see new changes for Foam on Tour, with new pricing and a family ticket option in the works that will make it “more accessible” to the community and allow spectators to join in.
