McDonald’s “best burger ever” to make permanent return
McDonald’s has also announced that the Big Arch burger, described by customers as “the best”, will make a permanent return to restaurants in the UK and Ireland on Monday (January 5).
The Big Arch Burger made its McDonald’s debut in the UK last summer.
The burger features two 100% British and Irish beef patties topped with white cheddar cheese slices, crispy onions, fresh onions, shredded lettuce, crunchy pickles, and smothered in Big Arch sauce. All held together in a poppy and sesame seed-topped bun.

It quickly became a favourite among consumers, with some labelling it “the best burger I’ve ever had at McDonald’s”.
One person, posting on Reddit group r/UKfood, said: “I think its the best burger they’ve done in a long time. Love it.”
Another added: “It’s great, the best burger I’ve ever had at McDonald’s…..yeah, damning with faint praise maybe, but it’s definitely a good burger.
“You just need to be extra careful holding it to make sure it doesn’t fall apart, but other (than that) it’s banging – cheese and sauce means it’s not too dry, and size means it’s basically a meal by itself. 8/10 for this.”
A third fan commented: “Love it! Best burger in years. It’s even better when served fresh at a clean store eg Farnborough Gate 10/10.”
While this Reddit user wrote: “Love it. Hope it’s permanent.”
Senior Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer for McDonald’s UK and Ireland, Ben Fox, added: “The Big Arch is back for good.
“When we first introduced it, customers voted with their feet and made it clear they loved the unmistakably McDonald’s taste, the generous use of ingredients and the iconic Big Arch sauce.
“This a burger that has earned its permanent place on the menu alongside the Big Mac.”
