Construction will start in Mawney Road and is part of Havering Council’s safety improvement scheme.
The crossing, which was proposed in October last year, will include illuminated Belisha beacons as well as textured paving to help those with visual impairments.

Up to 1,100 vehicles per hour use Mawney Road, according to a study by the council, while analysis of collision records also showed that 16 “personal injury accidents” were recorded along the road.
Of these crashes, one was serious, three involved pedestrians, four happened in wet conditions and five occurred when it was dark.
St Edwards councillor David Taylor said: “We raised a couple of concerns and questions – we were unsure over the placing of the crossing and whether that would be safe or impact on traffic flow.
“Since then, we’ve received assurances that it shouldn’t do that and so we are supportive of the zebra crossing going in and we think it will make a difference.”
A Havering Council spokesperson said: “Construction on the crossing is due to start soon, we are just awaiting dates from our contractor.”
Cllr Taylor is keen to avoid “rat running” in Poplar Street and Willow Street which he says drivers use to avoid congestion in Mawney Road.
He believes that a potential yellow box scheme at the junction with Poplar Street could divert traffic down those roads.
Havering Council did not comment on Cllr Taylor’s yellow box comments.
