Ruben Amorim told reporters on Wednesday evening that Matthijs de Ligt and Amad Diallo were in contention to make the matchday squad, and the pair have now been confirmed as such.
Amad has been played since early February due to an ankle injury, while De Ligt has missed United’s last seven games with a foot problem. Both returned to team training this week and are now in contention for minutes off the bench.
Amorim has confirmed neither will be named in the starting line-up for the game, telling reporters: “To start, no, but they can be on the squad for the game and the rest of the players.”
Young forward Chido Obi is with the first-team squad in Spain but is ineligible for the Europa League. His presence hints at a possible appearance against Brentford at the weekend, though.
With United not flying back to Manchester until Friday, Amorim confirmed the squad will train in Spain ahead of their trip to London in the Premier League on Sunday.
Obi has made substitute appearances in each of United’s last two games and is in line to face the Bees at the Gtech Community Stadium this weekend.
