Samuel Ompreon, 24, was running errands with a friend in Kennington, South London, when they were accidentally overcharged for a 1L bottle of Evian.
The pair had paid and were about to leave the shop when his friend noticed a bank notification pop up on his phone.
The alert showed a payment of £801.70, prompting them to immediately turn back and question the cashier.

@so.ldn This is why I don’t like paying with card at corner shops! #fyp #samuelldntv ♬ original sound – SO LDN
Samuel, a content creator and football coach based in Kennington, said: “It was a bit crazy when we first noticed.
“We realised what had happened pretty quickly and knew it was just an accident.
“So, to be fair, it was pretty funny.
“Obviously, it wasn’t so funny that the money actually got taken — but we knew it wasn’t malicious and that they’d be OK to give it back.”
The corner shop quickly realised the mistake and was quick to try and sort the issue, with Samuel’s friend later getting a full refund.
