The closure, from the junction with Stafford Road to the junction with Orchard Road, is due to the improvement works by a Bexley Council contractor, according to the Public Notice Portal.
The temporary restriction will come into effect on Thursday, February 27 and is valid for up to 18 months, but the work is expected to be completed in three days.
Parking restrictions will also be in place along the same stretch of road.
Alternative routes will be available via Main Road, Elm Road, Chislehurst Road, Sidcup By Pass (A20), Green Lane, Foots Cray Road, and in reverse.
The restrictions will be marked by traffic signs in accordance with the Traffic Signs Regulations and General Directions 2016.
The closure will not apply to emergency service vehicles, vehicles used in connection with the works, or anything done with the permission or direction of a police officer or traffic warden.
The Head of Highways, Traffic and Infrastructure, Andrew Bashford, has issued the notice of intention.
The works are meant to improve the overall condition of the road and are being done under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.
The council has apologised for any inconvenience caused and is asking residents and motorists to be patient while the work is carried out.
For further information, residents can contact John Stevens from Highways and Amenity Services at Civic Offices, Bexleyheath, on 020 3045 4545.
The notice was issued on February 19.
