The motorway will be closed in both directions between junction 10 (Wisley) and junction 11 (A320 Chertsey) from 9pm on Friday, March 7, until 6am on Monday, March 10.
This is part of the ongoing M25 Junction 10 improvement project, a massive upgrade designed to ease congestion, improve traffic flow, and make journeys safer.
Motorists are urged to avoid travelling if possible and expect long delays if they do.
Diversion Routes
A signed diversion will be in place for those who need to travel.
- Clockwise (Junction 10 to Junction 11):
- Leave the M25 at junction 10 and take the A3 northbound to Painshill. Follow the A245, then the A320, before rejoining the M25 at junction 11.
- Anticlockwise (Junction 11 to Junction 10):
- Leave the M25 at junction 11 and take the A320 southbound. Follow the A245 to Painshill, then take the A3 southbound to rejoin the M25 at junction 10.
- For some journeys, it may be quicker to reroute via the Dartford Crossing.
Why This Is Happening
The M25 Junction 10 upgrade, managed by National Highways, is a three-year project due to finish in summer 2025.
Junction 10 is one of the busiest and most congested parts of the M25.
The improvements aim to reduce bottlenecks, create a smoother flow of traffic, and make the area safer for drivers, pedestrians, and cyclists.
Recent Progress
In February 2025, two lanes of the new gyratory bridges opened to traffic. The remaining lanes will open after A3 widening work later this year.
In January 2025, Cockrow Bridge was installed. This is the world’s first heathland bridge, designed to provide a safe crossing for both people and wildlife.
What’s Next and Future Closures
Work will continue with further improvements to the gyratory, additional bridge installations, and environmental restoration, including tree planting and heathland recovery.
At least two more full weekend closures of the M25 will be needed later in 2025. Drivers should check the M25 Junction 10 project page for the latest updates on road closures and diversions.
With heavy delays expected, it’s best to plan ahead and allow extra time for your journey.
