The 15th annual ‘Loudest Whispers’ exhibition was opened at St Pancras Hospital conference centre by the mayor of Camden.
“This is a vital platform for diverse voices to inspire change and connection,” Cllr Samata Khatoon said. “Our creative community thrives on promoting equality and challenging social ‘norms’ through art.”
The exhibition explores the evolution of protest movements with contributions from 48 artists, being staged by North London NHS Foundation Trust.
It features archive photographs from the 1987 ‘Stop the Clause’ protest march against the controversial Clause 28 government policy banning education authorities promoting homosexuality or schools teaching its acceptability, which involved activists such as Peter Tatchell and the-then Islington South and Finsbury MP Chris Smith.
Loudest Whispers is open to the public at the Conference Centre Gallery in St Pancras Hospital weekdays from 9am to 5pm until May 16,.
Other events include LGBT+ short films festival on April 5 and the Hollywood movie Gold Diggers of 1933 screening and discussion on gender representation on May 3.
