Chloe Phelps, 44, from Blackheath, will run the 2026 TCS London Marathon through the capital she has called home for more than 20 years to raise money for the Ellen MacArthur Cancer Trust.
The charity supports young people aged eight to 24 by taking them on sailing and outdoor adventures to help them rebuild confidence and imagine a brighter future during and after cancer.

Chloe, an architect at Greenwich-based practice BPTW, said: “My family are all big sailors and I remember watching Ellen complete her round-the-world record with my grandparents.
“Being able to help gift that sense of adventure and freedom to young people who have had a tough start in life is an amazing opportunity, and from the work my friend Anniela does with them, I know the money is in safe hands and going to the right place.”
Chloe was inspired to fundraise for the trust by her friend Anniela, a long-term volunteer for the charity who has often spoken of its impact.
The TCS London Marathon 2026 will fulfil a long-held ambition for Ms Phelps, who says the event has been on her bucket list for years.
She said: “I’m most looking forward to the atmosphere and the sense of togetherness that comes alive in the city, so many people doing things for great reasons.
“Hopefully the funds I raise will help make at least one young person’s life just that little bit better.
“And I’ll also tick off the London Marathon from my bucket list.”
To prepare, she is taking on a half marathon in Marrakesh to keep herself motivated through winter and plans to focus on consistent, injury-free training leading up to April.
Chloe last completed a marathon around a decade ago but says she can’t rely on “muscle memory” this time around.

The Ellen MacArthur Cancer Trust helps young people regain independence, self-worth, and optimism through its programmes, which focus on building confidence and supporting their mental wellbeing.
The charity is open to all young people who need support, regardless of how long it has been since they finished cancer treatment.
