The Blackheath Fireworks display, which last took place in 2018, will return on November 1 from 4pm until 10.30pm.
In 2019, Lewisham Council pulled the plug on the fireworks due to a lack of funding.
Although a community fundraiser helped revive hopes for 2020, the event was later cancelled due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
Since then, the display has been called off every year, most recently due to ongoing financial pressures linked to the cost-of-living crisis.
Lewisham Council confirmed on July 17 that the event will take place which will feature a “high-end” fireworks display alongside on-site entertainment and market stalls.
It will be announcing further details and information on how to buy tickets in September.
A London-based company, Slammin Events, had previously applied to Lewisham Council to hold an event for up to 30,000 people on November 1.
The application covered live and recorded music, dance performances, and the sale of alcohol on site from 4pm to 11pm.
In a statement on its website, Lewisham Council previously said: “We have to prioritise funding and need to focus our limited financial resources on maintaining essential local services and supporting our most vulnerable residents.
“During a cost of living crisis, we cannot justify spending money on community fireworks for just one night over vital services needed throughout the year.”
