Friends and fellow Crouch Enders Robert Reid and Jean-Christophe Slowik opened their restaurant in a tiny 20-seat venue on Crouch Hill in 2021 with the help of a Crowdfunder.
Chef Robert and his Maitre D soon moved to larger premises in Middle Lane where they were voted London’s Best Neighbourhood Restaurant by the Good Food Guide, and in February 2024 earned a Michelin Bib Gourmand.
Now Harden’s has compiled a list of London’s favourite restaurants in the new edition of Harden’s London Restaurants 2026, published today. (September 11).
Serving up the likes of French onion soup, chicken liver parfait and snails in garlic butter and steak frites Les 2 Garcons came 10th on the list.
Also on the list, voted on by diners is fellow classic French bistro Bouchon Racine above The Three Compasses in Cowcross Street, Farringdon which came in 2nd.
Intriguingly Harden’s London Restaurant guide also named and shamed the top 10 most disappointing cooking with the Oxo Tower, Gordon Ramsay, the German Gymnasium in King’s Cross and The Wolseley making the list.
With the cost of eating out – especially at London’s swankiest restaurants on the rise – the list of the top 10 most overpriced restaurant named The River Cafe, Gordon Ramsay, Oxo Tower, Frog by Adam Handling, and Savoy Grill among the culprits.
