Costa Del Croydon returned to Centrale’s rooftop on August 1, having been transformed into a pop-up beach, giving families the chance to enjoy the seaside experience without leaving Croydon.
This summer, the event drew crowds eager to make the most of its splash zones, mini go-karts, trampolines, and daily activities ranging from bingo to pier-side games.
This year, visitors could also take part in a wider range of workshops and activities designed to entertain all ages.
Dance workshops, toy-making sessions, and storytelling events have been running alongside traditional games like hook-a-duck.
With more food and drink options than ever before, the rooftop beach serves everything from seaside treats to international dishes.
Costa Del Croydon is a community-focused event that is designed to bring a taste of the seaside to residents who may not have easy access to traditional beaches.
Dominique Stagg said in 2024 that this Costa Del Croydon has been set up for the many families living in flats without outdoor space as well as making Croydon a more vibrant place.
Croydon Voluntary Action (CVA) have been playing a central role, hosting Community Days every Tuesday where local groups can perform and showcase their talents.
This week, the weather is expected to be rainy, so key activities will be moved indoors to a dedicated pop-up space within the centre, ensuring the event goes ahead rain or shine.
Costa Del Croydon’s final day will be on Sunday (August 31).
