An application has been submitted to Havering Council on behalf of KFC in South Street, seeking to amend a condition of its premises licence.
The condition it is proposed for amendment formed part of conditional planning permission granted in 2017.
At present, the licensing agreement allows the KFC store to be open between 7am and 1am Monday to Saturday, and from 7am to 12am on Sunday and on bank or public holidays.
According to Walsingham Planning, writing on behalf of the applicant: “The proposed variation seeks to extend the trading hours of the KFC unit, resulting in a later closing time of 4am from Monday to Saturday, as well as on Sundays and recognised bank or public holidays.
“This represents an extension of three hours on weekdays and Saturdays, and four hours on Sundays and public holidays.”
The applicant does not wish to open the store any earlier than 7am, as is current practice.
Walsingham Planning stated: “The proposal is expected to deliver a range of commercial benefits to both the site and the wider area.

“These include the provision of late-night food services for individuals working unsociable hours, the creation of additional employment opportunities, and broader support for the local economy.
“Given its nature and location, the proposal is considered appropriate and well-aligned with the operational requirements for the applicant.”
A decision will be made by October 24.
