All lines were blocked on the Southern line this morning (January 23) after a person was hit near the station at 8am.
The British Transport Police says that officers and paramedics attended, but the person was pronounced dead at the scene.
A spokesperson added: “Enquiries into the circumstances leading up to their death are ongoing.”
No trains were running between Purley and Caterham / Tattenham Corner, with lines first reopening at around 11.18am.
All services then reopened by 1.30pm.
