Katherines Primary Academy, in Brookside, Harlow, has appointed Jeannette Harman as the new headteacher from next month.
Ms Harman was previously the school’s deputy headteacher for eight years and is replacing the departing Julien Mealey.
The new headteacher is therefore familiar with the school, staff, pupils, and parents.
Before this, she was the headteacher at Abbotsweld Primary Academy in Harlow.
Both schools are part of the NET Academies Trust and have been rated ‘good’ by Ofsted.
Mr Mealey stepped down from his role after leading the school following its return to the main site after structural problems caused by reinforced autoclaved aerated concrete (RAAC) were found.
The new deputy headteacher of Katherines is Georgia Threadwell, who has joined the school from Abbotsweld Primary Academy.
Jo Coton, chief executive officer of the NET Academies Trust, said: “I am delighted that Jeannette Harman has accepted the head of school role at Katherines and that Georgia Threadwell will be the new deputy head.
“Jeannette knows Katherines Primary Academy inside out after eight years as deputy head here and has previous experience as a head of school in our Trust.
“So she is the perfect person to lead the school.
“Georgia is also an excellent appointment and I would like to congratulate her on her success.
“I am excited about what Jeannette, Georgia and our brilliant staff team will together help the pupils at Katherines Primary Academy achieve.”
Ms Harman said: “It is a privilege to have been given the opportunity to lead such a special school.
“The staff work so hard day in day out to give the pupils the best possible education and care, and I am looking forward to what we can all achieve in the weeks, months, and years ahead.”
