The north London comedian and actor, who found fame on Gavin & Stacey before achieving global success as host of The Late Late Show, is up for ‘Worst Screen Combo’ at the 46th annual Golden Raspberry Awards alongside co-star Rihanna for their performances in Smurfs (2025).
Held each year on the eve of the Oscars—which falls on Saturday, March 14 this year —the Razzies “celebrate” what they deem the low points in filmmaking, highlighting performances, films, and screen pairings that failed to impress critics or audiences.
The Razzies website states: “In a topsy-turvy way, this program pays tribute to those divisive films that continue to fascinate and provoke debate, while calling into question the very line that separates high and low culture.”
Other nominees in the ‘Worst Screen Combo’ category include All Seven Dwarfs from Snow White (2025), Ice Cube & His Zoom Camera in War Of The Worlds (2025), Robert DeNiro (as Frank & Vito) in The Alto Knights, and The Weeknd & His Colossal Ego in Hurry Up Tomorrow.
The awards also singles out the year’s least-favoured films across multiple categories.
Topping the list with six nominations each are War Of The Worlds (2025) and Snow White (2025), including nods for Worst Picture, Worst Remake, and Worst Director.
In War Of The Worlds (2025), Ice Cube is nominated for Worst Actor, while Ariana DeBose is in the running for Worst Actress for Love Hurts.
Other categories include Worst Remake, Worst Supporting Actor and Actress, Worst Director, and Worst Screenplay.
The Razzies explain that although the awards mock what they consider the year’s weakest cinematic offerings, they have a way of drawing attention to films that “demand attention” for being “so out-there, so uncompromising, so beyond the bounds of accepted ‘good’ taste.”
The Razzie website states: “Every year, the Golden Raspberry Awards (a.k.a. the Razzies) honour the “worst” in contemporary cinema.
“Yet in doing so, they have often inadvertently shed light on films so out-there, so uncompromising, so beyond the bounds of accepted “good” taste that they demand attention.”
