The incident happened in Ivyhouse Road at around 10.30pm yesterday (October 27).
Officers and London Ambulance Service crews attended and found a man who had been stabbed.
He was taken to hospital for treatment where his condition is unknown at this stage.
No arrests have been made as police enquiries continue.
A spokesperson for the Metropolitan Police said: “Around 22:30hrs on Monday, 27 October, officers attended Ivyhouse Road, Dagenham, alongside the London Ambulance Service, following reports of a stabbing.
“A man, aged in his 20s, was treated at the scene for stab injuries. He was taken to hospital, where we await an update on his condition.
“No arrests have been made, and police are making enquiries.
“Anybody with information is urged to call 101, quoting crime reference 7826/28OCT.”
