The attack happened at 3.30am on June 22, when two women in their 20s were approached by a man opposite the Moonlight Supermarket at the junction with Madras Place.
According to police, he began shouting at them before physically assaulting them both.
During the altercation, one of the women fell backwards and received injuries to her head.
Officers arrived at the scene and took the women to hospital, where they received treatment for bruising to their faces and bodies.
One of the women was also treated for cuts to her head.
The man left before officers arrived and is yet to be identified.
He is described as black, in his late 20s to early 30s and around 5ft 7ins with shoulder-length braids.
He was wearing white shorts and a black top.
This investigation is being treated as a “hate crime”, as it is believed the women were targeted due to their sexuality.
Since the assault, officers have obtained CCTV footage and made enquiries in the local area.
As of today (October 22), they have not been able to find the man and would now like to ask the public for their help.
PC George Mansfield, who is leading this investigation said: “We urge anyone who may have been in the Holloway Road area on Sunday, June 22 to think back and try to remember if they saw this man.
“Officers have been working hard to identify this individual but we urgently need the help of the public to continue our enquiries.”
