Islington Council said the 24-hour facilities are part of its efforts to improve accessibility and support equal access across the borough.
Councillor Sheila Chapman, executive member for equalities, communities and inclusion, said: “Whether you’re an older resident, a parent with young children, or someone with a disability, having access to clean, safe, and free facilities makes a huge difference.
“These new toilets are a win for dignity and equality in Islington – they help everyone enjoy our parks, cafés, and town centres, at all hours of the day, without stress or barriers.”
The new toilets are already open at Newington Green, City Road, and Highbury Fields.
Units at Holloway Road, Seven Sisters Road, and Highbury Crescent are expected to open this week.
A Changing Places facility with enhanced accessibility will follow at Islington Green.
The toilets feature automated cleaning systems and are designed for independent use by wheelchair users.
Age UK London welcomed the news, saying better public toilet access reduces social isolation and helps residents feel confident leaving their homes.
Islington Council said the rollout followed engagement with Disability Action Islington, Islington Pensioners’ Forum, and other advocacy groups.
