At East London Coroner’s Court on Monday, October 27, an inquest was opened into the death of Rajeshwari Rai.
Coroner’s Officer Jean Smyth said the London Ambulance Service were called to her home address in Ilford on the morning of June 13.
Rajeshwari had been found unresponsive in bed in her first floor bedroom, the court heard.
She was pronounced dead at 9.50am.
Ms Smyth said: “She had no diagnosed illnesses other than a cough and cold which had been with her for a few days.”
The Met Police ruled that her death was non-suspicious.
A post-mortem examination gave her cause of death as sudden unexpected death in childhood.
Area Coroner Nadia Persaud said: “I’m satisfied on those facts that this death occurred in circumstances that require an inquest to be opened.
“The cause of death of sudden unexpected death in infancy equates to an unknown cause of death, that being the reason why an inquest must be opened.”
A provisional inquest date was set for May 18 next year.
