Inder Paul Sandhu started out as a rapper before launching clothes brand Exodus in 2022.
Actor and rapper Richard Blackwood, “hip-hop legend” Skinnyman and YouTuber LV General are among the names that have worn Exodus clothing.
“When I see people wearing my clothes in Romford it makes me think about growth and opportunity – we all have the same 24 hours but what we chose to do with it is different,” Inder Paul said.
He was born in Barking before moving to Canada at ten-years-old.
He returned to east London five years later where he has since lived in Romford.
He told the Recorder that he always had an interest in music but did not have the courage to perform until 21 when he began as a rapper.
“One time when I went to church, I prayed and asked the Lord to bring the stage to me as I was too scared to go to the stage,” he said.
“The next week, I’m told in church that there is an event being organised and I’m going to do the music – I hadn’t told anyone I was interested in music so that was definitely divine.

“Rapping gave me the confidence to start singing.”
His single Money Ain’t a Thing made track of the week on BBC Asian Network in 2017.
In December 2021, Inder Paul was signed to Pete Doherty’s record label after releasing Letter to Self.
Since then, his tracks have been used by the likes of Adidas for marketing and the global basketball video game NBA 2K23.
“It has been a crazy trajectory,” he said.

He said: “I was supposed to go on tour with the label and I didn’t want to do the typical artist T-shirts.
“I’d rather a listener wear something else that’s meaningful rather than just my name.
“I’ve got a phrase: don’t step on toes, break them.
“I think the only reason that people are ever on your toes is because they’re trying to slow you down or trip you up – I don’t think people are ignorant – they’re smart and trying to slow you down.”

“My tagline is ‘pas de ce monde’ which means ‘not of this world’ in French because I want my clothing and music to make people feel cool and different,” he said.
“What’s crazy is that the same shops that now have my clothes on the rails, are playing my songs on the speakers.

Inder Paul teased that he would be releasing a “flood of new music” in the near future.
“It’s life changing music that can put us, as an area, on the map.
“People will go ‘oh, you know this guy is from Romford’ – there are some serious songs that are going to come out.”
