Formerly the Hard Rock Café, The Cumberland overlooks Marble Arch and Hyde Park with hundreds of rooms, bars, restaurants and much more.
The hotel has a strong theme of music and sound, and in previous years, legendary artists like Jimi Hendrix, The Killers, Katy Perry, Madonna, and Lady Gaga have all stayed at The Cumberland.
While I may not be a name among those and definitely don’t have the same singing skills, I was lucky enough to be treated like those stars with the hotel’s VIP Backstage treatment.
I stayed at The Cumberland Hotel which treats guests like VIP rock stars
Arriving at The Cumberland, I was instantly met with a welcoming and fun atmosphere, with the lobby home to a former London black cab turned photo booth and plenty of desks to check me in.
But, as I was being treated to the VIP experience, I was taken to the backstage area, a private space with complimentary food and drinks available.
The check-in service at the backstage area was fantastic, on arrival I was given a glass of prosecco, all information about the stay was explained well and my bag was even taken up to the room.
After I’d relaxed and finished my glass of bubbles, I was taken up to the room I would get to call home for the night and was very excited as to what was to come.
Rooms made for the biggest of Diva’s
Entering the room, a Studio Suite, all I could really think was ‘wow’, it was easily the biggest hotel room I’ve stayed in, with a massive bed, sofa, seating area, desk, table, and bar area all just in the main area.
I could tell the bathroom was designed with glamour in mind, with a large bath and a separate walk-in shower, with the extra bonus of one massive mirror in the room.
But, my personal favourite part of the room, was the walk-in wardrobe, with space to hang your clothes, to put your bags in along with a hairdryer and a beauty mirror.
Also hiding in the wardrobe, was a Fender guitar, while I can not play the guitar, it was a very exciting extra touch that I can imagine is well-appreciated by musicians.
Along with getting to experience the luxurious room, The Cumberland had also set out a selection of treats with a fruit platter, chocolate and a bottle of bubbles on ice, making me feel even more like a superstar.
The Studio Suite was decked out in VIP, with a complementary mini-bar, a coffee machine and even a record player with iconic albums ready to play.
The room was flawless and everything you could want and more in a luxury London hotel.
Food for stars at The Cumberland
Along with my stay in a Studio Suite, I also got to try out The Cumberland Hotel’s restaurant, the Sound Café set just to the side of the lobby.
The wow factor of the Sound Café is the very impressive light display in the centre of the bar area that grabs the attention of everyone in the area.
The Sound Café offers an extensive family menu that really has something for everyone and is all great-sized portions.
My guest and I shared a Chicken Platter as well as enjoying a cocktail or two and the food was fantastic, so large and filling that we couldn’t finish the meal.
Service was fast while remaining personal and the staff was fantastic, despite being a busy night, I didn’t feel rushed, and the atmosphere was great.
Another meal I got to try at The Cumberland was the breakfast, offering buffet style with a range of cooked items, pastries, meats, bread and even an omelette station.
