The work, which is being funded by a £75,000 grant given to Havering Council from the Veolia Environmental Trust, will involve expanding the existing playground and introducing a quieter, sensory zone.
Plans are also in place for a “wildflower labyrinth” which is forecasted for spring 2026.
Progress on the site (Image: Pete Barrett) Councillor Ray Morgon, leader of Havering Council, said: “We’re really pleased that we’ve been awarded this £75k grant from the Veolia Environmental Trust to support exciting new developments aimed at improving accessibility and biodiversity.
“Working closely with Havering SEND Family Voice, we are delivering a more inclusive and engaging experience for children of all abilities.
“The plans include extending the existing play area and introducing a quieter sensory zone, designed to offer a calming space for children.”

Hylands Park covers 11 acres and other facilities there include six tennis courts, a cricket table and a full-sized football pitch
Cllr Morgon added: “We look forward to bring these enhancements to Hylands Park and welcoming families to enjoy the new spaces.”
