Howbury Lane, between the junction with Thames Road and outside number eight, will be shut for repairs on Sunday (January 26).
The London Borough of Bexley, the traffic authority for the road, has announced the temporary closure under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.
The work will be carried out by Keltbray Rail on behalf of National Rail for essential repairs and maintenance on railway bridge number 762-ELR-BEX-15-16.
The order for the road closure will be in effect for 18 months, but the works are expected to be completed within 23 hours.
While the works are underway, alternative routes have been arranged for both southbound and northbound traffic.
Southbound traffic will be diverted via Howbury Lane, Whitehall Lane, Bridge Road, Northend Road, and Thames Road.
Northbound traffic will follow Thames Road, take the fourth exit at the roundabout onto Northend Road, then the third exit southbound onto Northend Road, Bridge Road, Whitehall Lane, and back onto Howbury Lane.
The restrictions will only apply during the period indicated by traffic signs and will not affect emergency service vehicles or vehicles involved in the works.
