One driver called Sue, who asked that her surname not be printed, said she was among those who had visited Queen’s Theatre on February 24 and received a ticket.
She explained that despite paying for her parking in the Billet Lane car park, she returned to find that herself and “everyone” who had parked around her had been fined.
Havering Council has now confirmed that this was caused by a glitch in its data systems, claiming this has now been resolved.
However, it comes less than a year after the Havering Daily reported that a similar technical error caused fines to be issued to everyone parked in Billet Lane on April 16.
Apologising to those affected last month, the local authority urged customers to appeal their ticket if they believe it was incorrectly issued.
A Havering Council spokesperson said: “We are aware of instances where customers have paid for parking sessions but have been issued with parking tickets.
“This was due to a technical error with our data systems which has now been resolved.
“Customers are advised to appeal against the tickets if they feel it has been issued incorrectly. The information on how to do this is included on the reverse of the ticket.
“We apologise for any inconvenience caused to our residents.”
Sue has since had her £60 fine cancelled.
