Havering Council’s place overview and scrutiny sub-committee is meeting next Tuesday (November 4) at 7pm to review a series of reports on matters including travel consultations and school streets.
One of the key issues set to be scrutinised is the number of HMOs in the borough, following a request from sub-committee members for an update.
While a public list of licensed HMOs in Havering is already available, councillors hope to have these properties mapped out by ward.
Members have also asked to view responses to an HMO consultation, as well as for information on suspected unlicensed HMOs and what enforcement action has been taken against them.
Elsewhere on the agenda is a review of the school streets programme, with a council report revealing that there are now 15 school street zones in Havering, covering 21 schools and more than 50 streets.

In response to online surveys carried out by the council, two thirds of parents said the streets were feeling safer for children to walk to school – but 60% of parents said the surrounding streets now feel more congested at drop-off and pick-up.
According to a council report, the sub-committee are expected to recommend a continuation of the programme to give as many schools as are eligible the chance to have a school street.
Also discussed at the meeting will be a food waste service update and an active travel strategy consultation.
