The incident happened in High Street, West Wickham just after 12.40am today (March 13).
Officers and London Ambulance Service crews attended and found a person injured.
However, they were pronounced dead shortly after.
Traffic is being diverted up Station Road and via Manor Park Road and Ranvenswood Crescent.
We have contacted Metropolitan Police for further details on the incident.
A spokesperson for London Ambulance Service said: “We were called at 12.42am today (13 March) to reports of a person injured in the High Street, West Wickham.
“We sent resources including ambulance crews and an advanced paramedic.
“Despite the best efforts of our teams, the patient sadly died at the scene.”
The full AA statement says: ” Road closed and queueing traffic due to crash on A232 High Street both ways between A214 Station Road (Swan traffic lights) and Ravenswood Avenue.
“Congestion to traffic on diversion, from all sides at the Station Road and Red Lodge Road crossroads near the station.”
