Police were called to High Street, Sutton, to reports of a person spotted inside a construction site near the busy road on December 31 at 8.58am.
The boy appeared to be unresponsive to those who alerted officers.
At the scene, a 17-year-old boy was found with injuries consistent with a fall and he was pronounced dead at the scene.
His death is not being treated as suspicious and his family have been informed by the Metropolitan Police.
Forensics and police were spotted in the area blocking off access near to Lodge Place and Throwley Way as an investigation took place.
A Met Police spokesperson said: “Police were called at 08.58hrs on Wednesday, 31 December after concerns were raised about a person spotted inside a construction site in High Street, Sutton who appeared unresponsive.
“Officers attended and found a 17-year-old boy with injuries consistent with a fall from height. Sadly he was pronounced dead at the scene. His death is not being treated as suspicious.
“The boy’s family have been informed and are being supported by specialist officers.”
