Officers from the Metropolitan Police were travelling in a marked police car on Rainham Road North, Dagenham, at 1.20am on January 16.
They spotted a vehicle and indicated for it to stop but it failed to do so, resulting in a pursuit.
The chase carried over into High Street South, East Ham, with the car crashing with scaffolding.

Colleagues from the London Ambulance Service and London Fire Brigade were dispatched to the scene.
A man was arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving, theft of a motor vehicle, driving without a valid driving license or insurance, possible possession of class A and B drugs, points and blades.
He was taken to hospital to be treated for injuries but has since been discharged.
