Police closed off sections of High Road and Cranbrook Road yesterday (January 14) at around 5.43pm after the knife attack.
Medics, including an air ambulance, were called to the scene and a man was treated before being taken to hospital.
Access was closed off to a parade of shops and it’s understood that the cordon remained until the late hours that day.
A London Ambulance Service spokesperson said: “We were called at 5.43pm yesterday (Tuesday 14 January) to reports of a stabbing incident in High Road, Ilford.
“We sent resources to the scene, including ambulance crews, a member of our Tactical Response Unit, an incident response officer and London’s Air Ambulance.
“Our crews treated a man at the scene, before taking him to a London major trauma centre by road.”
The Metropolitan Police has been approached for comment.
