It comes after Saad Ashor, 39, was arrested and charged with multiple offences in December last year.
His long history of shoplifting crimes led him to be identified by the community as one of the main offenders in the area.
The Metropolitan Police have now secured a Criminal Behaviour Order (CBO) against the 39-year-old, banning him from parts of Dagenham for three years.
Ashor was issued the behaviour order at Barkingside Magistrates’ Court on January 24, where he was also fined £80 and £140 in compensation costs.
As part of the CBO Ashor must not enter the Heathway Tesco Express, an area of the Merrielands Retail Park, or the Chadwell Heath Retail Park.

PC Jones from the Barking Riverside team said: “This is another positive result.
“Mr Ashor’s constant offending has troubled the local community for years.
“I am sure the local community will welcome this news as they see another prolific offender removed from the area.”
