The results of a questionnaire sent out to schools by the education watchdog has ranked the borough’s secondary schools in terms of happiness.
Each questionnaire consisted of 14 questions, asking parents and carers to choose whether they strongly agree, agree, disagree, strongly disagree, or don’t know.
Sacred Heart of Mary Girls’ School in St Mary’s Lane, Upminster was revealed to have the happiest students, with 97 per cent of parents saying their children were happy at school.

When asked if their children feel safe at the school, 80pc chose strongly agree, whilst 19pc chose agree.
The Royal Liberty in Upper Brentwood Road, Gidea Park, got a 95pc happiness rating, with 75pc of parents that responded to the questionnaire agreeing that their child is happy at the school.
A further 20pc of parents answered that they agree.
Drapers’ Academy in Settle Road, Harold Hill received a 93pc happiness rating between 2024 and 2025.
Here, 42pc of parents reported that they strongly agree that their child is happy at the school, with 50pc of respondents stating they agree.
Marshalls Park Academy in Pettits Lane, Romford, and The Frances Bardsley Academy for Girls in Brentwood Road, Gidea Park each received a 91pc happiness rating.

According to Ofsted, 45pc of parents who responded said they agree.

Results from The Frances Bardsley Academy for Girls found 52pc of parents who took part strongly believe their child is happy at the school, with 40 per cent stating that they agree.
Harris Academy Rainham received an 86pc happiness rating from all 14 questions, with 46pc of parents strongly agreeing and 40pc agreeing that their child is happy at the school.
These figures are taken from the schools that responded to Ofsted’s questionnaire, and do not factor in those that did not submit responses.
