Tyler Barrett and Sarah Benediction-Toutoukpe, both students at Harris Academy South Norwood, excelled in their GCSEs.
Sarah achieved six grade 9s, two grade 8s, and two grade 7s.
Meanwhile, Tyler achieved eight grade 9s and two grade 8s.
The pair were “friendly rivals” at primary school and even jointly earned the principal’s endeavour award this year.
Tyler said: “I am really happy with the results I have achieved.
“Next year I’m staying at Harris Academy South Norwood to study maths, physics, and chemistry with the aim of studying aerospace engineering at university.”
Sarah said: “I have thoroughly enjoyed my time at Harris Academy South Norwood.
“I am really happy about my results, in particular history, which I did in a year.
“I am looking forward to studying maths, physics, and economics with the goal of becoming a pilot.”
The pair were part of a “really special cohort” of students at the school who achieved record results for the sixth year in a row.
Academic performance was particularly strong in subjects such as biology, chemistry, history, French, Spanish, and religious studies.
There were 17 grade 9s in English and 28 in science.
Rob Hitch, principal of Harris Academy South Norwood, said: “This has been a really special cohort of young people and it is wonderful to see them celebrating today.
“It’s very rewarding to see so many grade 9s across the curriculum, and a particularly strong performance in science with our chemists and physicists achieving an average grade 8 – an incredible feat.
“These remarkable results set this wonderful group of young people up for fantastic careers and lives.”
