Gary Cook, 34, was arrested and charged with “numerous” shoplifting offences committed in Farnham Road, Harold Hill, in November last year.
He has now been banned from part of Harold Hill for five years, using a Criminal Behaviour Order (CBO) issued at Romford Magistrates Court on January 16.
The CBO bans Cook from entering an area covering Quilter Way, East Dene Drive, Hildene Avenue, Chippenham Road, and West Dene Drive.
Havering Police said they were able to collect enough evidence to apply for the order by working with “the local community and local shop workers and business owners”, as well as Havering Council.

Acting Chief Inspector Charlie Routley from Havering Safer Neighbours called the CBO “another positive result” for the ‘Our Harold Hill – Clear Hold Build’ initiative.
He said: “Mr Cook’s constant offending has troubled the local community for years.
“I am sure the local community will welcome this news as they see another prolific offender removed from the area.
“We will continue to utilise ancillary orders such as CBOs to target and disrupt offenders.”
A/Ch Insp Routley added that any displacement of offending will be “monitored through our joint CBO Panel with Havering Council”, and any breaches “stringently enforced”.
Cook is described by Havering Police as having a “long history” of theft-related offences, and being identified by the community as one of the main offenders in the area.
His CBO comes just a week after another Harold Hill shoplifter, Mark Woodhall, was banned from entering the area for two years.
