The blaze in Hackney Road was first reported to the London Fire Brigade at 6.57am this morning (October 18), when the first of 18 calls came in.
Three storeys of a six storey flat block were affected by the incident, with emergency responders focusing their efforts on the third, fourth and fifth floors.

According to a spokesperson for the brigade, the flames caused “significant damage” to the building.
Pictures from the scene have revealed charring to the exterior of the affected floors, with bricks around windows having been blackened by the blaze.

Four people and a dog had to be rescued by firefighters.
A turntable ladder was used alongside equipment from eight fire engines.
The fire was under control by 8.09am, with the cause unknown at this stage.
