The London Fire Brigade received the first of 18 999 calls reporting a flat fire in Hackney Road at 6.57am this morning (October 18).
Eight fire engines and around 60 firefighters were deployed to the scene from stations across Bethnal Green, Shoreditch, Whitechapel, Shadwell, Dowgate, Homerton, Islington and Dockhead.
Fire was found to have spread to the third, fourth and fifth floors of the six storey block.

Four people and a dog have been rescued from the blaze via a rescue ladder and fire escape hoods, with one person being carried down by firefighters.
No injuries have been reported.
The cause of the fire will be investigated.
