In the early hours of September 30, 2023, Oswald Greenaway was sitting in his parked car near Homerton when he spotted a woman on the way home from a party on her own.
The 60-year-old predator offered her a lift home but instead drove “quite fast” to his own flat where he gave her more alcohol and sexually assaulted her.
After two hours the victim managed to escape, but was found by Greenaway.
Police managed to track her down and when he was arrested officers found an 11cm knife.
The victim described that since the incident she had suffered debilitating panic attacks, low mood and hopelessness.
She said she never expects to feel safe again and made the decision to move home.
Greenaway, formerly of Bream Close, Tottenham, was convicted of kidnapping, sexual assault, assault occasioning actual bodily harm and carrying a bladed weapon.
He had 16 previous convictions for 25 offences.
At Wood Green Crown Court in July he was sentenced to four years and three months in prison.
But that sentence has now been increased by a year after the Solicitor General appealed against the decision under the Unduly Lenient Sentence scheme.
The Solicitor General, Ellie Reeves MP, said: “I was utterly appalled by this case. Oswald Greenaway is a dangerous sexual predator, who deliberately targeted a vulnerable woman before kidnapping and sexually assaulting them.
“I welcome the Court of Appeal’s decision to increase Greenaway’s sentence.
“I would like to offer my deepest sympathies to the victim, who has showed remarkable courage throughout.”
