Richard Ehiemere, 21, was first under investigation when he was 17-year-old after the National Crime Agency received a referral from instant messaging service Discord in January 2021.
The online platform was concerned about a network which Ehiemere was linked to, as it shared harmful and misogynistic content.
Using the username “Retaliate#1337”, he logged on to such harmful Discord channels 383 times and shared stolen email addresses and passwords.
The account was also linked to sharing indecent images of children.
He was arrested in April 2021 and his phone had “severe” child sexual abuse images.
Police also found conversations about hacking, selling unlawfully obtained material and how to avoid being detected.
A computer tower storing 142 lists of stolen accounts and personal details was also found, which could have been used to defraud victims.
Members in the online groups are said to have targeted girls on social media and persuaded them to send intimate photos of themselves – threatening to publish personal information online if they did not follow their demands.
Girls were forced to join group calls, where they would be instructed to carry out sexual acts and acts of self-harm for their audience.
In severe cases, vulnerable victims were encouraged to kill themselves on camera.
Ehiemere was charged with two fraud offences and three indecent images of children offences.
He was found guilty by a jury at Aldersgate Nightingale Court today (February 25) following a seven-day trial.
Steve Laval, Senior Investigating Officer at the NCA’s National Cyber Crime Unit, said: “Richard Ehiemere was a key enabler for this harmful online group, providing stolen data which they could use to defraud hundreds of victims.”
He added: “These networks are built on extremist or misogynistic ideologies and promote violence against women and girls, who are forced to comply with their extreme demands through fear.”
Ehiemere is due to be sentenced at Snaresbrook Crown Court on May 1.
