The Guinness Open Gate Brewery is set to welcome its first visitors to Mercer Walk on December 11.
The much-anticipated £73 million venue will boast two restaurants, The Vaults private event space, and a bar hosting sports screenings and live music.
It will also run 90-minute tours of the working brewery where visitors can sip a range of experimental brews, enjoy a 360 degree experience on the heritage of the Irish beer, and learn to pour the perfect pint – with the famous “surge and settle” technique for that all important finish.
There’s also the chance to book a Guinness masterclass where you can learn about the long history of the brand and its journey all over the world through both liquids and artefacts.
The 50,000sq ft attraction will host two restaurants including rooftop restaurant Gilroy’s Loft serving fish and seafood, which goes brilliantly with a pint of the black stuff.
Great British Menu star and Michelin-trained executive chef Pip Lacey will be at the helm, offering line-caught, beautifully prepared fish and perfectly shucked native oysters in a restaurant with skyline views across the capital.
All dishes can be paired with a Guinness, a beer from the on-site brewery, or a glass of English fizz – with the menu items including grilled native lobster, tomato and pine nut brown butter with green peppercorn and herb salad; halibut ceviche, with kohlrabi, chilli, salty fingers, coriander, and artichoke crisps; and Guinness-rarebit with chicory, pink grapefruit, carrot, and pickled walnut.
Also on site is The Porter’s Table, a grill focusing on generous sharing dishes and carefully sourced ingredients for “indulgent dining where you can taste it all and share the atmosphere of goodness and community”.
The menu includes grilled cauliflower, celeriac and onions, alongside brill, hake, ribeye, pork chops or half a chicken.
Unusual dishes include the butcher’s skewer, featuring marinaded under-rated cuts – and the option of a Guinness and green peppercorn sauce with your steak.
While desserts include a trio of stout cakes; chocolate caramel, cream cheese, oat brittle.
Old Brewer’s Yard is the main bar area serving up live music, perfectly poured pints and hearty street fare courtesy of London pie king Calum Franklin – including beef and Guinness pie, and mash.
Visitors can also take-away merch from the on site shop ranging from shirts, to glassware, and food and drink items.
