The figures highlight which schools helped students improve the most from GCSE to A-level, using a progress score that compares performance to the national average.
A score above zero means students made more progress than expected, while a negative score suggests they didn’t progress as much as their peers across the country.
Among the 21 institutions listed, Eltham Hill School and Thomas Tallis School were standout performers, both achieving above-average progress scores of 0.15 and 0.14, respectively. Colfe’s School, an independent school, had the highest average A-level grade (A-) and a 46.71-point score.
Meanwhile, Shooters Hill Sixth Form College had the lowest progress score at -1.05, placing it in the “well below average” category.

Grammar schools and independent schools such as Colfe’s School and Blackheath High School achieved higher grades and a greater percentage of AAB+ results, reflecting their selective entry policies.
Among state schools, Eltham Hill School and Thomas Tallis School stood out, showing strong progress rates despite a mixed intake of students. Meanwhile, Plumstead Manor School and Shooters Hill Sixth Form College had below-average and well below-average progress scores, indicating that students, on average, made less improvement compared to their peers nationally.
Greenwich’s overall average A-level grade was C+ (32.75 points), slightly below the national average for state-funded schools (C+ at 34.38 points). When including independent schools, the national average rises to B- (35.55 points).
